Welcome to Centre Stage Theatre Academy where we believe everyone deserves the chance to fly. Established in 2015, CSTA prides itself on being an inclusive and encouraging Academy where the student comes first.
Building technique, musicality & performance skills are our highest priority among student welfare & enjoyment.
Dance & performing arts have been proven to have many benefits to both mental & physical health including improved condition of the heart & lungs, increased muscular strength & endurance as well as better co-ordination, agility & flexibility. Dancing & singing also helps to lift the mood, ease anxiety & sharpen the mind.
Pre School Acro
Through our Preschool acro class, children from 2 years old can learn how to stretch & tumble safely through play & singing, while learning to cooperate, think & problem solve. These are all active learning precursors to thinking, problem-solving & memory. Our preschool acro program includes using props & games to help develop social skills & build confidence.
Acro
At Centre Stage, we have acro classes for junior, inter & senior ages. Following the Acroarts syllabus, we build towards safe flexibilities & progressions into tricks.
These build confidence, body awareness, strength & flexibility which as well as improving performance skills also prevents injury. If taking an acrodance class, a ballet class will also be required as these build the technique to execute acro.
Ballet, Tap & Modern Jazz
Ballet is a strong core subject within dance & our classes are fun, friendly & supportive. Our ballet classes are suitable for a range of ages & abilities with noone left behind. We have classes from age 2 upwards & from grade 5 we also do pointe work.

Tap is an iconic form of dance from Fred Astaire & Ginger Rodgers to Gene Kelly & Gregory Hines. Tap builds rhythm, coordination & Flexibility. We have classes from 3 years old upwards in Tap. We emphasize learning through fun & in our classes you will improve your rhythm, timing and fitness in no time.
At CSTA, our modern jazz classes are fun & friendly. Learn something new each week & progress at a steady pace within a relaxed environment. Kicks, turns & jumps are all included & before you know it you'll be flying through the air!
Contemporary
Contemporary dance incorporates elements of ballet, modern & jazz. Our contemporary syllabus from Associated Board of Dance follows well thought out and fluid progressions through each grade and the dancer can go on to become an associate member of ABD or even on to teaching. We have classes from age 7 upwards. Taking a ballet class alongside the contemporary classes would benefit greatly, but not essential.
Musical Theatre
Musical theatre is one of our most popular classes. In this class we cover acting, singing & dancing. We work on group singing & harmonies, acting through group songs as well as movement & dance.
Acting
In this class we look very closely at the process of acting, the motivations of a character as well as developing and writing our own characters. We study accents, including different dialects of various countries and improvisation. We also do LCM drama exams and have a 100% distinction rate.
Singing
As well as group & harmony singing in the musical theatre class, we also offer 1:1 singing lessons. These lessons are of limited availability, during which we focus on technique & performance, including acting through song. These lessons are used to work towards a variety of performances. Solos, duets & trios for competitions & shows and also graded exams with the London College of Music. We hold a 100% pass rate for these exams, with a high distinction rate including two 100% awards.
Competitions
Three times a year we take part in dance & singing competitions with our competition team. There is the option to do solos, duets, trios & groups from 4 years & up. It requires a great deal of commitment & financial support, but can be an incredibly fun & rewarding experience for students, especially if wanting to go on to a career in performing arts. There are some prerequisites but if this is something you would be interested in, please speak to Rachel.
Shows
Since 2015 we have done multiple variety shows, musicals, pantomimes & even a performance at the 02 arena. Our variety shows include numbers from different shows and give us a chance to show different styles. These include solos, duets, trios & group numbers.
We also do full scale musicals and have so far done, Beauty & the Beast, Gypsy, Grease, Bring It On and Jospeh and the Amzing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Haven High Academy. One of the shows was an autistic friendly performance.
Success
As well as excellent dance, singing & acting exam results, trophies & medals from competitions, we have been very lucky to have some students go on to some very prestigious performing arts schools such as Italia Conti, Bird, LSMT, LCM, Urdang, Arts Ed & MTA. Previous students have performed with West End kids, lead the entertainments team at popular holiday resorts, performed professionally on cruise ships, in West End shows & been on television programmes such 'Ted Lasso'. . At CSTA we are incredibly proud of each & everyone of our students.
